Neuritis: You are describing a condition called neuralgia parasthetica. It commonly results from compression of a sensory nerve called the lateral femoral cutaneous nerve that exits the pelvis over the iliac crest, the bone that your belt rests on. Common in police officers who wear a holster. Usually gets better in time. May try oral or topical nsaids, like voltaren (diclofenac) gel. If persistent, Gabapentin may help.
