Re-check with Dr.: A patient who has finished an antibiotic course for prostatitis but still has pain symptoms can re-check with his urologist, who can evaluate to see if the acute infection has gone away. That may include testing the urine and the prostatic secretions. The doctor can figure out if retreatment is needed, and/or if chronic prostatitis symptoms are setting in.
