Not likely: If you are talking about Lotemax (loteprednol) or Alrex for ocular use, the side effects noted are only with regard to the eye, such as more eye pressure, headache, eye irritation or blurred eyesight.

Lotemax (loteprednol): Although unlikely, treatment with a topical steroid such ad Lotemax (loteprednol) could increase the risk if viral occurrance or recurrence. Since canker sores are associated with herpes simplex virus (the non sexually transmitted type), it is possible to see an increased frequency with topical steroid therapy.
