Doctor can evaluate: For intermittent symptoms, one should write down on a large calendar when the symptoms happen, what makes them better, what makes them worse, what foods/drinks are taken, what meds are used, what activities are done that day, etc... The primary care doctor will want to review the calendar. Things in the pain area are abdominal muscles, small intestine, large intestine, top of the bladder, etc...
