My son & i came down something about a week apart.we had diarrhea, fever & aches, then days of mucous & blood in stool.it's improving, do we need meds?

Probably not now: Given the week between the illness, it may well be the case that transmission occurred between you. If the illnesses are abating, it is likely that any specific therapy is too late to have much of effect.

Mgt/workup: At this time probably not, if there is no blood, mucus or fever. If any of these recur though, a stool culture should be sent by your physician, and a follow up appointment can be made. If you have pets, they can be a source of bacterial diarrheal illness. If your son is a young child, he should be seen by his pediatrician. Drinking water and eating yogurt will help your recovery.
