Yes, it can happen: After a boil heals up, there can be some scar tissue at the site. The firm bump is the scar, and it should soften and get smaller over the coming months. Sometimes there is some dead cells and other "foreign" material there that will dry up and come out (as in a comedone) by itself. In a few cases, the material forms a "cyst" and needs to be cut out by a surgeon.
