Yes: Both tea and coffee can cause brown or black spots/stains on your teeth which cannot be removed by brushing or flossing. Only a thorough cleaning at a dental office with an cavitron (ultra sonic cleaner) and some prophy paste (fluoride polishing paste) will do the trick.

Yes, caffein stain.: Tea, coffee and/or many other dark colored liquids can stain your teeth. This staining usually ranges from brown to black in color. Any other kind of "spots" could be due to some other etiology.
