Complicated cocktail: Mdma is a reuptake inhibitor of serotonin, Dopamine (da) & norepinephrine. Long-term use can damage the serotonin system. Cocaine blocks dat (da transporter), inhibits MAO (making amine transmitters more available) & down-regulates da receptors. Thc via cb1 receptors influences hippocampus & can interfere w/ memory. Depending on use patterns, may take up to a year to recover. See comment.

see http://science.education.nih.gov/supplements/nih2/addiction/guide/lesson4-1.htm for interesting pictures of how MDMA creates damage to cerebral cortex.
