Timing: The luteal phase is 10-14 days after ovulation and before the next menstrual period. It starts when the ovary begins producing progesterone, just after the ovulation surge and just before ovulation. It ends with the next menstrual flow. The luteal phase can be defined by ovulation prediction kits, temperature charts, ultrasound, and blood tests.
