Center of the knee: The ACL runs in the center of the knee, as one of the major stabilizers. It connects the end of the thigh bone (femur) to the top of the shin bone (tibia). It prevents the shin bone from moving to far forwards relative to the thigh bone. Often injured in sports like basketball, football, skiiing, etc.
