It Depends: There are different restrictions following total hip arthroplasty. Depending upon the approach, condition of the soft tissues, and condition of the patient, the time to recover will vary. Normally, the patient will be walking the day following surgery. Participation in therapy and general medical health pre-op will have major influences in the recovery.
