May be helpful but..: Little research has been done on this. Studies on rats suggest that spirulina protects kidneys from various toxins such as mercury & the drug cisplatin. On the other hand, there is evidence that spirulina can sometimes worsen autoimmune disease, so one should be cautious if the cause is autoimmune. There are other useful supplements for renal failure including cordyceps and coq10. See comments:.
