A member asked:

I am a mother of a 6 week old newborn, i had a second degree tear in delivery, is it normal to still have abdominal cramps and perineum pain?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes its common: It is common for it to take months for the perineum pain to resolve. The main concern is infection. As long as you are not having foul smelling discharge or increased redness then it is unlikely infected. The uterine cramping also is common and is more pronounced if you are breastfeeding. Remember to look for signs of infection: foul smelling vaginal discharge, fever, abdominal pain.
