Yes: Many things, including stress, can affect/influence one's cycle, transiently.

Not usually: Menses can be affected by body stressors and overall poor health and nutrition. But umbilical hernia repair surgery is pretty minor and does not usually affect menses. Some medications can affect menses. If menstruation is more than a week late and a urine pregnancy test is negative, then you may want to see an ob/gyn physician.
