Numbness: The symptoms of carpal tunnel are those related to compression of the median nerve as it passes through the carpal tunnel. The carpal tunnel is the passageway in the wrist to the hands, which the median nerve iruns through. Symptoms can include numbness in the palmer aspect of the thumb, pointer, middle, and half the ring finger. Additional symptoms can include pins and needles, and pain.

Same but different : Carpal tunnel causes numbness to the thumb, index, and long fingers. It usually is not painful. Arthrits is pain at a joint level and is descriped as painful and stiff with use. Finally, tendonitis can involve a joint, but usually is more painful in the muscles and tendons around the joint. It can also worsen with overuse as well. Tendonitis and arthritis improve with rest and nsaid's.
