How do you know?: How do you know it's sprained? Sprains tend to look and feel very much broken bones. If you suspect you have a sprained finger, it is worth getting it checked out to make sure there isn't a small fracture.

Always best: It is always best to confirm the diagnosis by seeing a doctor. Proper treatment can also be discussed. There are many examples of people assuming they had a simple sprain that turned out to be something worse. Better safe than sorry...
