Is there a vitamin that can help raise low hdl?

Niacin does so a bit: Niacin =nicotinic acid, commonly known as vitamin b3, is available otc as a supplement. Also availabe via prescription with a much higher dosage and is used to treat hyperlipidemia. Comparing to other cholesterol pills, Niacin is actually good in raising hdl, but can also cause higher sugar and liver abnormality. A flushing-side effect is bothersome for many. Consult doc. Good luck.

Niacin: Niacin is used to raise hdl, but it has side effects and you may need a prescription form of the vitamin. It can also adversely affect glucose tolerance. Discuss the matter with your doctor and see the site below for more info. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/niacin/cl00036.
