Yes: Any bug bite that is worsening with painful, nodular changes should be evaluated especially with history of systemic lupus erythematosis. Auto-immune diseases can complicate treatment as well as produce worsening long term morbidity with this history.

Norma/Concerning: When our skin sustains an injury, immediate response is inflammation (red, hot, tender swelling) for about 48-72 hours. This is the body increasing blood flow to the area to bring healing factors and is normal healing. If it gets worse over time (increase in pain, fevers, chills, more redness), then it may be infected or the lupus may be reacting. If so, then seeing the doc may be your best bet.
