MGUS: Monoclonal gammopathy of unknown significance (mgus) is a very insidious disease. I do not believe that it worsens his prognosis or lifespan significantly.

Depends: The cause of monoclonal gammopathy is not known. The seriousness depends on the level of the monoclonal protein. It would be prudent to follow your doctor's advise about yearly testing.
