Narcotics/Opiates: There are extended release forms of opiate pain killers. For many, chronic opiate use is not really the way to go. You will find relief, but you will likely need to continuously escalate the dose over time. Then, over some years, you could be on high doses of opiates but still with pain. Then, you will have withdrawal symptoms without them. It may thus be better with non-opiates for fibromyalgia.

Alternative Medicine: 30's female w. fibromyalgia (FM) found Norco (hydrocodone and acetaminophen) beneficial, but weaned off. Opiates treat pain & FM's have generous pain. Orthodox medicine disavows efficacy of opiates for FM. Three non-opiate pain medications have been approved for FM. Better to use natural therapies to abort pain generators in FM; via aquatherapy for muscle tone, massage, gentle yoga, medicinal cannabis, & mindfulness therapies.
