Do you build a tolerance with ambien (zolpidem)?

Yes: The studies would suggest not, but my experience with patients says yes. Ambien (zolpidem) only treats difficulty falling asleep which can be due to many different problems. It doesn't treat the underlying cause, eg depression, anxiety, adhd, drug abuse etc. You need to treat the underlying cause otherwise Ambien (zolpidem) will either not work or make the problem worse.

Possible: With regular continued use, it is possible to build tolerance to Ambien (zolpidem). Ambien (zolpidem) is sometimes best used as a short-term treatment for insomnia.
