A member asked:

Besides being a vaginal placed bc, what is so different from the nuvaring than the pill? is there less hormones in it?

Nuva ring : The nuva ring actually has a greater concentration of hormone because it has to be absorbed through the vaginal mucosa.

Not much: There is not too much difference other than the method of delivery. The amount of hormones is basically the same.

More stable: Since the hormones in NuvaRing are absorbed directly into the mucosa avoiding the liver on first pass, they are less likely to be affected by the concomitant use of antibiotics. So the need for back up contraception is avoided with nuvaring.
