Many possibilities…: Gallbladder disease, liver problems such as hepatitis (from a variety of possible causes), fitz-hugh curtis syndrome (related to sexually-transmitted diseases and pelvic inflammatory disease), right lower lobe pneumonia, constipation and excessive bowel gas (which are quite common), colitis such as crohn's disease and musculoskeletal causes.

Doctor can evaluate: Under the right rib cage, or part of the rib cage, are the liver, gall bladder, first part of the small intestine, the muscles between ribs, the diaphragm, the linings of the ribs and the lungs, etc... Sometimes it is irritation of a nerve, or of the lining of the ribs or lungs, that leads to brief sharp pains. A doctor can examine the area to see if tests or scans are needed.

Depends: Could be a few things really. Might be from a rib injury or even a muscle injury. Other things to consider would be gall bladder issues or even lung issues. Might want to get examined to figure this out.
