These Symptoms: Prosthetic hip dislocation is usually but not universally a dramatic, painful event. There is usually deformity (shortening of the leg), pain and the inability to walk.

Severe pain: A dislocation of a total hip replacement is a very painful event. Pain and inability to move your hip is typically seen. A reduction of the hip will require a trip to the emergency room.
