Brown vag discharge: Vaginal discharge that is brown nearly always indicates the presence of some blood. Small amounts of blood turn brown in the acid environment of the vagina. There is no obvious explanation for this in your case. This stringy mucous on day 21 suggests that ovulation had not yet occured, which would make your menses late without pregnancy; although, pregnancy is not out of the question.

Probably not: Although you had unprotected sex at a common fertile time in an average cycle, the stringy discharge later is a possible sign of a later fertile time this cycle. With a negative test, i suggest seeing what happens over the next week or so.
