You'd hope so: But if it's something serious like a melanoma, you'll likely have another operation to take out a lot more tissue to try and be sure it's completely removed.

How big?: It depends on the size of the lesion. A small lesion may be removed in its entirety. If the lesion is large or if there are multiple lesions then only a sample is removed. It also depends on the location of the lesion and the likelihood of excessive bleeding from the site.
