Need Work-Up: This sound serious & usually a doc can narrow down the possibilities with history, exam, and screening for infections. If this fails to find a cause, imaging studies are usually next (pelvic us, ct). If this fails, laparoscopy is another alternative to evaluate the pelvis looking for abscesses, endometriosis, adhesive disease, and/or uterine/ovarian abnl (cysts, fibroids, torsion of adnexa, etc).
