Gas usually, occ. fa: Floating stool is usually due to gas; occasionally poor absorption of fat leads to fatty, greasy, pale, foul-smelling, yellowish, floating stools; not normal. Fatty stools seen with pancreatic deficiency, some bowel problems, e.g. Celiac disease, ileal disease from crohn's, etc.
