Heel pain : Can be caused by many things, it would depend on what part of the heel hurts. Most commonly is the bottom and the condition is called plantar fasciitis. Try icing it, wearing arch supports, massaging it before getting out of bed in the morning. You can take antiinflammatories like motrin, if pain persists see the foot doc.

Shoes, ice, stretch: More supportive shoes, ice/massage and stretching may help. If not or if there is swelling, see podiatrist for complete evaluation and treatment.

May: Have plantar fasciatis. I suggest you see a podiatrist. Conservative care can usually resolve the problem.

Time mostly: If the pain is in the heel in the bottom of the foot, that would be consistent with plantar fasciitis and getting heel cushions can help but it still takes weeks to months to resolve. Pain in the back of the heel can come from bursitis or tendonitis and is a completely different problem. Bottom line, see your primary care phyiscian and find out what your diagnosis is.
