Yes: Technically there are classification criteria, but these are used to help guide the diagnosis. There can be a variety ways to diagnose lupus and almost like snow flakes there are over 1400 different combinations. Not all of these items are in the classification criteria. Your rheumatologist can help clarify the diagnosis.
