See a surgeon: Your hernia will not get better until it is fixed surgically.

Is this new?: Hernias usually only cause mild discomfort unless it is incarcerated (something within the abdominal cavity "stuck" in the hernia) or you are over exerting yourself. If the hernia is incarcerated and this is new, you should seek out urgent evaluation.

Maybe: Hernias may or may not cause pain, and size is not a determining factor. If the lump is firm and tender, you should seek medical attention that same day.

See you Surgeon: I am not clear if you have a hernia that has been repaired, or needs repair. If you haven't yet seen a surgeon, do so. He/she will be happy to give you all the information and care that you need. If you have already had an operation, call your surgeon. He/she should be happy to answer your questions and ensure that you're doing well.
