A member asked:

They are going to take a blood sample for nicotine in 14 days is there any chance that i can show up nicotine negative if i stop smoking now?

Yes: It's worth trying. Cotinine, the chemical being checked for, is reportedly detectable for several days (up to one week) after the use of tobacco. So, two weeks later, there's a good chance for a negative test, especially if one was not a heavy smoker.

Maybe: “When someone stops using tobacco and nicotine products, it can take more than two weeks for the blood level of cotinine to drop to the level that a non-tobacco user would have and several weeks more for the urine level to decrease to a very low concentration.” REF: http://labtestsonline.org/understanding/analytes/nicotine/tab/test/
