Choices, ask your MD: Many choices, depends on what you are etreating. If you are not ttc and just want regular cycles, better skin, the birth control may be one better choice. You can also control your cycle with cyclic progestin (such as provera, prometrium, (micronized progesterone) etc) but this wont help with acne. Metformin, a prescription anti-diabetic drug, is helpful for many (not all women) with pcos, particularly when ttc.

Weight loss: Weight loss can cure pcos, but is quite difficult for most women. Surgery can help in the short term (ovarian drilling or wedge resection). Cyclic Progesterone alone can regulate the cycle in pcos but will not likely suppress the ovaries nearly as well as the pill. The pill is the first line treatment for pcos.
