Diarrheal infection?: Colon, rectum, or anus symptoms can be due to some irritation (inflammation) or infection. Serious problems like cancers are possible, depending on one's age and family history. Irritation can occur from diarrhea, giardia, constipation, diverticulitis, inflammatory bowel disease, celiac disease, etc... A primary care doctor can evaluate, and refer to a gastrointestinal specialist if needed.
