Not unusual: The eruption of baby teeth is a bit unpredictable. The average is a tooth /mo starting at 4-6mo but many times they come in in pairs or more. Some confuse teething with babies desire to stimulate the pleasure sensors in their lips which is an instinct. I've never found teething tablets to offer any consistent benefit during the process but most i've evaluated are made up of harmless material.

Yes, normal.: Cold teething rings and damp frozen wash clothes are excellent teething aides. Use the appropriate amount of tylenol (acetaminophen) for severe teething discomfort. Avoid using medications that you rub on the gums b/c they only last for 10 to 15 minutes. Encourage fluids you child may be fussy, eat a little less and/or drool more than usual. Provide loving support and your child will get through this you did.
