Not usually: Your doctor will advise you if you have other problems such as diabetes, you still have to follow your diabetic diet. So dietary restrictions depending on your other medical problems. Generally no fluid or pottassium restrictions which are necessary for patients on dialysis.

Fairly liberalized: Most kidney recipients are advised to eat a low salt and low fat diet, but with few other restrictions, and much less retractive than on dialysis. It is more important not to smoke or use excessive alcohol, keep your body weight in normal ranges, and exercise several times a week.
