Genetic form...: There is an inherited form of COPD called alpha-1-anti trypsin deficiency. It is caused by an enzyme deficiency and treatment involves enzyme replacement. It is diagnosed by a blood test that your family practice doctor can order. Patients with this disorder develop COPD at a younger age and smoking accelerates the process. See your doctor for testing!
