G.I. specialist exam: Upper abdominal pain can be from "acid", such as stomach ulcers, just gastritis with no ulcer, or reflux (heartburn). Sometimes there is an ulcer in the first part of the small intestine. Infection with h. Pylori bacteria can lead to stomach ulcer pains. Sometimes after endoscopy and max doses of acid blockers, gastritis symptoms persist, and the G.I. Specialist has to try additional therapies.
