Usually before this yours finical will be red, puffy, bleeding, associated with bad breath and most likely mobile teeth. At first signs of bleeding gingiva and redness see your dentist immediately.

It can: Oral hygiene is a must to keep your teeth for about 70 to 80 years, so do your job. In this case the throat and tongue... May not be related to a pure oral hygiene issue, it may be more of a throat infection or a viral one. I recommend you talk to your primary care doctor.
