Probably not: If knee pain is improving, and you have no instability it's probably not a ligament tear. Acl tears are the most significant ligament injury in the knee and usually requires surgery to reconstruct. Mcl injuries will usually heal. Pcl injuries, if isolated, can be managed non operatively. Lcl injuries usually require surgery. Rest, ice & take some nsaids. If no better in 4wks see a sports med doc.

Prob not: Usually the knee is unstable with a ligament injury, but not always. I rec seeing an ortho doc for an eval.
