Scabies: Scabies is caused by a mite called sarcopetes scabiei which burrows under the skin and lays eggs there. This causes an intense allergic reaction that results in intractable itching. Scabies preparation is usually done by a physician in order to identify the mite, or secondary evidence of it (e.g., eggs, scybala) under a microscope. It is acquired due to direct infestation from a person or clothing.
