A member asked:

Is it possible to remain unaffected or not catch scabies when living in an outbreak of scabies in a small city? or how to survive a scabies outbreak?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Scabies: Scabies is not a dangerous infection. Scabies is caused by a small insect called a mite. It is transmitted by coming into close contact with an infected person or infected bedding, cushions, pillows. Scabies is treated by applying permethrin containing cream from the neck down and washing off in 12 hours. Itching can persist for 1-2 weeks after treatment.
