A serious infection.: Urosepsis is a serious infection of the blood that starts as an infection of the urinary tract. Infections that start in the bladder can spread to the kidneys, where the bacteria are exposed to the immense blood flow of the kidney and carried into the blood stream. A systemic reaction to this infection can be life threatening, requiring hospital critical care with intravenous antibiotics.

Infection from urine: Urosepsis is a urinary tract infection that has entered the bloodstream. Although it does not technically have to enter the bloodstream, this is what usually causes sepsis. Sepsis is a response to infections that can cause a rapid heart rate, rapid breathing, high or low temp, and high or low white blood cell count. It can also cause low blood pressure. Iv antibiotics are usually needed.
