A member asked:

My question is how long can someone who underwent kidney transport survive?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Some survived 40+ yr: The average life of the kidney transplant is about 10-15 yrs (kidney may die and person may get another one or back on dialysis), but bill thompson survived his for over 40 yrs. The better the genetic match (i.E identical twin vs random donor) and the healthier the kidney/recipient are, the better chance of longer survival. Keep yourself healthy the best you can. Consult doc. Good luck.
