Don't wait : Wisdom teeth should be removed as a preventative procedure. Waiting for them to come in is a big mistake. They may never come in. Once they are fully formed, then they are much harder to deal with. See an oral surgeon.

By feel: You can tell by feeling of sensitivity, tenderness, or slight swelling around the area on gums. Its obvious if you can feel the teeth breaking through.

You should be seeing a Dentist every 6 months for regular examinations, at which time the status of your wisdom teeth would be evaluated. At 34, there's little possibility of impacted wisdom teeth erupting. And there's a 1 in 7 chance of damage being done. See your General Dentist or an Oral Surgeon for evaluation and, if needed, treatment.
