Treatment is directed to reduction of pain and disability acutely with abortive meds if headaches are infrequent, say 2 or less times per week. Preventive treatment should used if the headaches are more frequent than that. There are multiple drugs of both varieties that have to be tried and adjusted to find the best result of you.
