Unusual: Aspergillus does not usually cause a bronchitis although abnormal immune responses to this fungus may lead to severe asthma or bronchiectasis. Occasionally a pneumonia like condition leading to extensive scarring of the lung tissue may occur. This is known as hypersensitivity pneumonitis.
