What's an enlarged thyroid?

Goiter: Its usually caused by inflammation. This may be autoimmune or infectious. At times it's caused by normal pubertal changes. It does not have to be associated with dysfunction ie hyper or hypo thyroidism.

Thyriod: Thyroid enlargement can be caused by many conditions including autoimmune inflammation (with or without thyroid hormone abnormality) and benign and malignant nodules. An endocrinologist can make the evaluation to determine if any more tests such as a thyroid ultrasound or treatment is needed.
