No: It may be a symptom of a disease, but not a disease by itself. The most common cause is idiopathic. Many kids with precocious puberty don't need treatment. Boys more likely than girls to need treatment. However, a proper evaluation is always necessary with either pediatrician or pediatric endocrinologist to make this determination.
