A member asked:

Is it normal for nose-picking to cause bleeding?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Common: The number one cause of nasal bleeding is nose picking. It is really a question of timing and care. The bleeding is from trauma to the lining, and is commonly due to sharp or casual introduction of the finger and its relatively sharp nail. If you must pick your nose, doe it slowly, carefully and be conscious of the position of your finger and fingernails.
